    i liked d way u frame out children’s way to draw .i jus had a ?
how they react to specific color ?or a story narrated to them &there reaction to that?
    bye

Hi there Shruti. One way is to hand a child a couple of crayons and paper and asked them to draw while you talk to them. Or telling them this particluar story. Example if you find out the child has a conflict with someone. You tell a smiliar story to that and observe the pressure used in the drawings. Continue talking to them as they draw. If Children who hardly use red or black, begin to start using these colors and drawing all over to cover up something…can tell you something is seriously going wrong..
Most children are attracted to purple and magenta. Different children react differently to colors. For example, my sis had a fascination over black when she was young. So its always people to check if the childs drawing has a sudden change of color. To some children, red may be the color of anger. Some children may love red that they color everytg red. So its VERY important to observe how long they had been coloring like this. Drawings can reveal quite alot if observed carefully. You can read up more on some good books like “Child art therapy” by Judith Aaron Rubin.

    Shanu,
I don’t know if you are interested in psychology, but if you are…
Here is a link for Carl Jung’s typology: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm
From reading your blogs, I think you would be considered an INFJ (the site explains what that means) – which is the most rare personality type (2% of the population). If you are intersted take the quick test to see if I’m right!

Hi there, I watch alot of your videos on youtube and I have to say, they are very helpful. I’m teaching myself to belly dance and seeing other dancers interpretations is very refreshing. I do have one question though…What artists do you listen to?? Just a short list of 2 or 3 would be SO helpful. All I really listen to is Beats
Antique, and they’re starting to get old, lol.
    Thanks so much!!
    -Karina

  16. genieshanu said

    Hi Katrina
Thank you so much! When I initially started bellydancing i couldnt get access to much music. So the the first artist i listened to was bellydance superstars.
Nowdays i listen to alot of drum solos.
    Hossam Ramzy
    Bassam
    Raquy and the caveman
    Beats antique
Random Arabic artists e.g Cheb Khaled, Nancy Ajram.
    Tarkan
We can share music sometime if you like. Listening to a wide variety is good. I dont choose a specific artist. I listen to everything i can get my hands on :)

    Hello

My name is Nichole. I saw some of your videos on youtube. But I was wondering what is a good Egyptian song for beginners ? Also a good tribal fusion song for beginners ? Something that is happy and could be performed in front of teenagers for a talent show, something that would keep them interested.

    Hi Nicole
I have emailed you some of my song recomenndations. I hope you like them. Happy Dancing!

Hiya Sabreena! I envy you very much. I do not think there is any other person on YouTube as modest as you. Most of them use belly dance provocatively.

Anyway I was wondering if you could help me with my moves. I cannot seem to flow from one move to another. Practising someone elses dance kind of annoys me because they will have a move I cannot master or one that annoys me.

  20. genieshanu said

    Hello Kit
Thank you so much. I am very happy to hear this comment!
I used to have problems transitioning from one step to another last time. I will be more than happy to help you. I used to hate doing other people’s choreography too cos i dont feel its my personal touch :) How can i help you? Maybe i can contact you some way?

  21. Kit said

Hiya Sabreena this comment is not for publishing obviously!! I sent the last comment about a month ago and forgot to confirm this. Yes go ahead and contact me. I would love to talk to you on a regular basis but you seem very busy!

When I finally get rechargable batteries for my camera I will be able to send you private videos showing my progress.

I have a lot of respect for you! Someone on YouTube that has gained subscribers and the respect of the non haters (you might get some haters I don’t know but most of your comments are great)

    Hi Sabreena,

Found de link to your blog through awesome(!!!) videos you posted on youtube. I love watching belly dancing but never really had the chance to have professional trainings due to financial difficulties (am still schooling btw).

Usually I discover or learn through youtube and was thankful I came across yours. You made a really great teacher :) I am interested to know if you do provide belly dance class outside be it personal/ group.I understand that you would probably have other commitments, school and such but I am keen to try attending a few meet ups for short workshops or something.

I totally have no dance backgrd but I have basic sense of rhythm to start off with since I am in a Brazilian Samba percussion grp in Singapore. Fusing rhythm & movements have always been ma interest.

Do let me know the charges if there’s any and I will be willing to consider it. I wish I could dance well like you 1 day, had always look upon great dancers like you!

Keep on blogging and inspiring souls!

    Regards,
    Yani

    Hey Sabreena,

Your arabic dance is too good. I was fascinated by Arabic – mainly the script – and the mosques when I visited Dubai.

Well, its nice to know that you are a malayali residing outside Kerala (like me – though for now I am working in Kerala).

I wish you the very best in life and hope to hear you as some one famous and be looked upon in your career (in case you have chosen dancing as one).

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Madhu
