Dear Sabreena,
I love your belly dancing! You dance really well. I am currently trying to teach myself belly dance and your videos are a great teaching tool. I love your style. I also perused your website, and it has a lot of good information on it.
Carly
Hey Carly, Thanks alot. Its actually for you guys i hav posted these videos. Cos when i initially started learning, i found that my country had very little teachers. Its really great to know that you guys appreciate it so much. Do add me up if you have a wordpress account. I can help you more.
Sabreena
Hey Sabreena,
I don’t have a wordpress account but I’d like to be your friend! I am American. I’m 21 years old. If you’d like a penpal from a foreign country, please email me! I really like your belly dancing; keep up the good work! Your lessons are helpful and you are a good teacher–very friendly. I like the music in your videos. Can you suggest any good belly dancing music?
Carly
Hey Carly,
I am more than happy to be ur friend. I have some mp3’s from bellydance superstars. My favorite are drum solos which are especially great 4 dancing. I would send you an email
hi sabreena!
very cool site, nice initiative!
hey yannick
Yes, Sabreena is the best bellydancer!
And that is not fakm it is just true:)
Hello Sabreena.
I am a belly dancer living in the UK. Ive just had about a year off from belly dancing (not by choice) and I am now trying to get back into it. It is very frustrating at times but I have found your youtube videos and this site very helpful. Your creativity is a real inspiration to me, and for this I am very grateful to you.
Keep on inspiring!
Meryl
thanks alot meryl. Its very nice of you to pass such a comment on my page. I had some problems from people for teaching bellydance free on the web. I had been facing some friction. But i will never stop teaching. Becos art is not abt money
Even though i do know of teachers who teach just earning money…
If you need more help do tell me. I am researching more in depth. And i will post some good stuff for you guys to learn from
Genieshanu:
I found your bellydancing video on youtube and I absolutely love it..you are a fantastic dancer! Any music you could recommend to me would be much appreciated.
I read your post about the death of your brother and I was very moved by it. I’m so sorry for your loss..
Hi Pauline
i am more than happy to help you. Drum solos are the best. I will send you some to your email if you like. All the best practising
Thank you, yes, I’d like you to email me some music.
Hi! I like the dancing. I probably won’t be learning to belly dance, but maybe a couple steps.
I have seen a couple of Indian films, and a couple of times a man has pushed back a woman’s hair on one side and put a flower over her ear. I am wondering: is there any special significance to this in Indian culture? I looked a little online but found nothing. Thanks!
Hello Ben. Flowers and the red dot are very important to a woman in the indian culture. It is like an identity. When a man puts flowers or the red dot on a woman, its like telling her i will take care of you as my wife and immedidatly giving her the status. Thats why when a man dies, the woman in hindu religion, loses her flowers and red dot. Its like saying, her beauty is her husband itself. In some indian cultures, the brahmin ones, the woman loses her hair too . But its nt widely practised anymore. And in even older taditions, the women dies along with the man. The reason behind that is in the past, women didnt work and could nt support herself. So, she would rather die than stay a loner. Maybe i will write a post abt it sometime. I hope this helps. If you need more help, do ask me
Hi Sabreena!
I thought I would mention a book I adore that may be of interest to you, in terms of make-up artistry. It is called ‘Making Faces’ by Kevyn Aucoin. I am sure that it is possible you may have come across this book, or other work by Kevyn Aucoin, in your studies but just incase you haven’t I thought I would share it. He was an amazing make-up artist, very experimental (particuarly in the area of gender illusion)a true artist. He really emphasised beauty from within and celebrated beauty in women and men.
Anyway, if you haven’t come across his work it is worth taking a look.
Keep on inspiring
Meryl x
Hey Meryl its really nice of you to mention this to me. I have heard about his book befre. I shall try purchasing it. I also haf a strong interest in arabic makeup. I am not sure if you have come across it before

Hi. Glad I stumbled onto your blog… Just thought I’d mention that I’ve had a longtime fascination with Kerala. I posted about it here:
http://roughinhere.wordpress.com/2008/01/19/fascination-with-kerala/
There are a couple of big reasons that I might mention here: the great cinema actress-dancers who came from there – especially Padmini and her two sisters (together they were known as the Travancore sisters, right?) and also their niece Shobana – all trained in bharatanatyam, which I love to watch… And there’s the author Arundhati Roy – though I don’t think she was born there, but I think she spent some of her childhood there and writes so much about Kerala in The God of Small Things…
Anyway, interesting blog. I’ve never seen anyone include belly dancing lessons and A Clockwork Orange in the same blog.
Will have to see what other surprises are in store…
P.S. I was born and raised in New York City – probably fascinating to some people, not so much to me – except that I get to run into so many people from other places here…
Yes i do haf msn. Is there any way i can contact you guys. Or you can drop your msn ids at my youtube mailbox. Thanks alot for the encouragment
Eh.. I thought you are in Singapore?

I just found your youtube videos. You’re really good, and very helpful. I don’t have much talent for dancing, but I’ve been having a lot of fun trying. Thanks for posting. ^_^
hi shanu,
is that ur eyes? they are beautifuli am also a malayali away from kerala. do you think a mother of two with postnatal belly can do the dance? may not be beautiful for anybody to see but i might enjoy.
actually i was doing bharatnatyam, mohiniyattom, kuchipudi and folk dance till my marriage. so the styles are so different. But when i saw your videos i really feel like dancing. i have a doubt. when u do the bellydance u move your leg also to get the hip movementsor is it just the movements of the belly and hips and chest? when u were doing the fast movements u move ur legs also like kathak? sorry if it is a stupid question.
Hello Smitha entheke ondu vishesham
Yes they are my eyes. Thank you so much! Honestly, every woman can bellydance. I know it sounds cliche. But to a person who dont bellydance, the steps seem tough but for a women when she tries she is able to do all this naturally. As you dance, the hardest steps will come to you just like that. Dont be shy when it comes to dancing. Every shape is beautiful. Bellydance is very good for your health and over time you will develop a very feminine beautiful body. For certain movements, yes we move legs. Example, shimmies, our knees move back and forth to give you the vibrating feel. Most movements are really muscles on your belly but as you become better you will control them. I dont know kathak much. But i wish to learn. I am not too sure how to answer that. But bellydance has close relation with indian dace. This is from my observation. Take care smitha. Happy dancing!
hi shanu,
thank you very much for your answer.(I am soo happy you replied .)I feel you are very genuine and sincere.nice knowing you. May god bless you always.
Hi Shanu,
My name is Elena,
I from Greece, i want to say that
i really really like the way you dance to
the songs. how long you been practicing?
I also do, do bellydancing Arabic-Greek style
known as Tsiftetelli (Ciftetelli) for nearly 1
month now. I have heard some beautiful songs of when you were performing, is it possible you could send me some songs so i can experiment with the different styles (slow paced if you can), that is all i ask
and, all the best to you, keep up the good work, i love you style!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou
Elena

Hi Sabreena!
I like your bellydance videos, you mentioned that you are still not really a professional dancer for now, but I guess someday you will be.
Anyway, thanks for your message in myspace, and I hope everything goes well in your future dance events.
Nice blogs by the way, hope to see you making new dancing videos and short films (Hopefully you will be in short film videos too) in your blogs, I guess if you make your own short films, you can let us know more about your character and be yourself in your videos.
Hey girl, i saw u on youtube….you are such a sweety. dont get discouraged, cause when i started dancing 10 years ago at the age of 18, i thought…omg i will never get this!…and mind you, i refused to see a teacher and took my lessons just by being married to an egyptian and watching the classic egyptian movies and seeing arabic concerts on our satelittle. now, it comes naturally to me and i am up there with the best of egyptian cabaret. keep up the spirit!
Thank you very much Tami. Your words are very encouraging!

Hi Sabreena:
First I wish to congratulate you for yuor really great bellydancing and your great website, both of them are really unique… I usually doubt about the further intention that anyone could have to do something but in your case is clear you do this only for love, love to dance, to comunicate or whatever, but just love and that’s awesome. In fact I usually don’t post messages in personal websites but you’re really inspiring (cause also I just began, a few months ago, to learn bellydance myself)and also very beautyful.
Anyway, I just want to congratulate you, with all my heart, for what you do.
By the way, I’m from Mexico (a little distance) and I’m 26.
I wish you a really wonderful new year, and a wonderful life, also.
Amitabha.
Alejandra
P.D. Thanks for taking the work to do all your useful instructional videos.
Hello. Thank you so much for your kind comments. I really appreciate them. I feel happy when people understand my love for bellydance. Thank you so much again!
Hi Sabreena,
I can not express how thankful I am for all your tutorials, you should be teaching professionally or open your own school. You are amazing… I loveeee your web site, you seam like a very down to earth person, beautiful in every way. Thanks do much and one day if you decide to travel to the Caribbean me and my family will be pleased to meet with you.
Take care,
Taty
Hi Sabreena,
I came across your video on kurdish number Lali…
You are awesome and I am sure you know it already.
What is amazing about you is your grace and simplicity.I have rarely come across someone so straightforward and so honest.
And you should be least bothered about ur acne issue. You are amazing just the way you are. No one is perfect and even the reverse is also true. Everyone and everything is perfect.
Will try some books that you have mentioned.
Billy joel is my favourite performer.
I would like you to read his lyrics in a song called ‘Just the way you are’ .
Also kindly let me know if you ever perform on his rock n roll numbers and record yourself.
I am 38 years of age and my family is amazing …
. When he grows up he can learn from your videos.
we have a son called mashu …a nickname that stands for masha-allaha. Mashu is a great dancer.
And he is just 2+
You have such a huge fanlist that I am almost jealous of you.
my regards and best wishes …
may you get whatsoever you want and may this world not corrupt a pristine fellow like you.
alok etc…
Hey, I am a Keralite, reached your page from a youtube video. FYI Kerala is not an Island, So plz correct tat in uor “about me” column.
thank u..n happy dancing..!
Hi
I saw your You tube about weight belts. I happen to be leading the parade on their use w for belly dance. I was shocked to see you say they were dangerous. I think you softened your tone furthur into your report. Many things are dangerous when used irresposibly. They are ideal for beginner dancers. Physical therapists use weights like these to help people regain movement after injury. Certainly they are good for teaching people new movements. Weight barring instruments and regular exercise build bone density. You really should review my site. There is alot of information about them to help you speak from more authoritively. Stay well.
Namastey

Hello frm sg too.
Honest & not stingy with knowledge- my description of you.
Not to mention great bellydancer.
I just started learning May this year at normal CC’s.
But i have a doubt, when i dance in class, i look like i’m dancing very high-energy and bcos i’m fat/fleshy, it seems my body movement is much more than the rest of the class…
Which makes me feel insecure – “am i dancing rite? am i doing it too much?” etc…
But when i see ur dance, it’s also high-energy and enthu.
So am i doing it wrong?
p/s: I’m Also indian muslim, also exposed to malay dance and not forgetting all those Bollywood films!!
And can i noe where did u learn bellydance(in sg)? Do you have a group here that dances with you or u perform somewhere?
Sorry lah so long.
Thanks!
hi there,,,,do not need to worry, if you are comfy in what you are doing, you are doing perfectly alright….some of us naturally like a more high energy dance, nothing wrong in that. Take care
Thnks for ur reply. Ur latest post entry say so much about how ur internal thoughts are. And very nice dancing!
